Instruction and Lessons
Most everyone has heard the saying "Practice makes perfect". While it's intentions are good, I prefer to say "Perfect practice makes perfect". One could practice hours, and not progress because they not practicing correctly, what their instructors are teaching them.
My instruction is based on learning to read music. Building a solid foundation of rhythmical reading enables the student to pick up any method book or music magazine and understand and apply what they're reading. I encourage students to try and write the rhythms that they're hearing their favorite artists play.

1971-75 While attending Indiana State University served as private percussion instructor in the area and percussion specialist in area public schools in Terre Haute, In. Also a member of The Terre Haute Indiana Symphony and the Indianapolis Symphony as percussionist. Performances included such celebrities as Phyllis Diller, Gary Burton, Victor Borge,Doc Severenson, Chuck Magione,and Al Jarreau.
1976-78 Graduate Assistant in Percussion at Indiana University Of Pennsylvania. Responsible for instruction of undergraduate music education majors in the percussion field. Occassional performances as percussionist with the Pittsburg Symphony with the reknown Andre Previn as conductor.
1978-87 Los Angeles, CA Worked as a private instructor and freelance percussionist in Los Angeles area. Performed as percussionist musical shows as well as concert venues for such notables as Johnny Mathis, Dionne Warwick, Neil Diamond, Burt Bacharach,The Temptations, Henry Mancini,Glen Campbell, Denise Williams, and more.

I've been teaching and performing for several years in practically every kind of genre/venue. I've
enjoyed not only drumming, but also performing as a percussionist which includes the keyboard
percussion (i.e. marimba, orchestra bells, xylophone), latin percussion instruments, and timpani. I have a wealth of experience that I exhibit in my teaching and performing.
