The Elephant Revolution
The group of committed people who founded Elephant in Berkeley in 2002 had a passion for health, wellness, and education. It was created to offer health-conscious consumers a health- and wellness-minded product selection, superior customer service, and easy access to information through a free customer education program. That passion is evident in every aspect of our business to this day.
Our stores' mammoth product selection includes over-the-counter drug store remedies, herbal remedies, bulk herbs, vitamins, supplements, body care and cosmetics. And because Elephant is more than just a drug store, customers will find also find a selection of products that support a healthy lifestyle, from natural foods to healthy household supplies; from yoga gear to home accessories, gifts, books and more.
Our carefully-selected team of wellness practitioners offers free, one-on-one consultations every day, and local and visiting experts lead hundreds of free classes and clinics every month in every store.
As of 2008, Elephant has three locations, with the addition of San Rafael and Walnut Creek. Achieving this growth takes hard work and commitment, two things Elephant employees have in spades. Expansion will allow us to bring our vision of a good long life, well lived, to even more customers, as well as offer our employees further opportunities for growth and fulfillment.
Free Classes and Events.
Something interesting happens every day in the classrooms at Elephant. Each store offers over 80 free wellness classes a month on everything from Acupressure to Yoga.

Compounding services.
Compounding is the process of creating "custom" prescriptions. Some conditions are best treated with medications that are not available in standard commercial formulations. With a compound prescription, you get the most effective treatment, delivered in the most appropriate or convenient dosage form. We can make flavored suspensions or gummy bears for kids. Liver-flavored treats for dogs. Creams and gels for the skin. As well as all the familiar pills, capsules, suppositories and so on. Getting you exactly the medications you need, just the way you want them, is one more way we can help to keep you a happier, healthier person.

Trained in Chinese, Western, homeopathic, and Ayurvedic traditions, our wise, licensed herbal pharmacists fill herbal prescriptions and help you with complementary remedies.
Herbs we carry.
Our herbal pharmacy is brimming with healing herbs, everything from the most common remedies to things you won't find anywhere else. Plus, we carry an almost endless variety of teas and culinary herbs. We get all of our herbs and teas from the most trusted sources available and select organic whenever possible.
